The Motor City Wine and Food Festival turned a “what if”, into a “why not” during the summer of 2012. A series of events scheduled for May 2018, will give guests the opportunity to take part in activities in Oakland and Wayne counties.
These events, from sophisticated to educational to entertaining to one-of-a-kind will be the talk of the town. The Motor City Wine and Food Festival combines the best in food, spirits, fashion, flowers, music and yes — cars.
The Motor City Wine and Food Festival raises needed funds to support adult literacy organizations in the tri counties. We all help bring awareness to the growing problem of illiteracy in our communities. All, while introducing the various literacy organizations who make a difference to thousands of adults each and every day.
Did you know……In Michigan one in three adults reads below a sixth grade level.
The National Assessment of Adult Literacy (NAAL) found that: two thirds of students who cannot read proficiently by the 4th grade will end up in jail or on welfare.
More than 60 percent of all prison inmates are functionally illiterate.
90% of welfare recipients are high school dropouts.
It is estimated that the cost of illiteracy to business and the taxpayer is $20 billion per year.
Motor City Wine and Food Festival, a 501 c3 organization, will support the efforts of reducing illiteracy, and providing a forum for people to learn more about this issue.
We hope you too will support our efforts and attend one or more of our events.
